Services for Bertie Carter Stephens, 95, of Maryville will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel. Burial will be at Rabbittown Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ms. Stephens died Friday in Maryville.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Gerald "Jerry" and Jean Stephens of Maryville and Jimmy and Peggy Stephens of Homestead, Fla., a daughter and her husband, Joan and John Barrett of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., a sister and her husband, Sara and Bill Krause of Heflin; a brother, Hoover Curtis Carter of Heflin; three grandsons and their spouses, Greg and Nicole Stephens of Maryville, Jimmy Stephens Jr. of California, and John Jr. and Beth Barrett of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; four granddaughters and their spouses, Pam and Michael Jordan of Homestead, Adrienne and David Bellflower of Tallassee, Fla., Kaerin and Dale Vinson of Anchorage, and Beth and Adam Hamilton of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Stephens was a long-time member of Rabbittown Baptist Church and taught Sunday school there for 10 years. She had spent the last 10 years at Broadway Towers and Colonial Hills Nursing Center. She was born in Columbiana and had lived in Florida and South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. H.R. and Georgia Carter; her husband, Cecil J. Stephens; four brothers and six sisters.
