Research done by descendant Jim E Anderson (Clayton, Ontario), says John fought in the War of 1812.

who departed this life October
2 1840 aged 65 years 11 months & 13 days.

Friends and physicians could not save
This mortal body from the grave
Nor shall the grave contain it here
When God commands it to appear
