Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at St. Landry Catholic Church for Mrs. Ida Catherine Pavy Boudreaux. Rev. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen and Rev. Fr. James Brady will concelebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Ida Boudreaux, the former Ida Catherine Pavy, was a native of Opelousas, Louisiana. She was born on April 22, 1922. She died on Monday, June 22, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 93. After graduation from The Academy of the Immaculate Conception in 1939, she began her college studies at Sophie Newcomb Memorial College and graduated from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1943 with a major in English. She did further studies at the La Sorbonne Université in Paris, France and Katharine Gibbs School in New York City in the 1940's. She remained in New York to live and work for several years before returning to Opelousas to marry Albert John Boudreaux.

Ida survived by her five sons, Henry Pavy Boudreaux of Baton Rouge, James Pavy (Judith Collet) Boudreaux of Lafayette, Alfred Veazie Pavy (Brenda Gallaher) Boudreaux of Opelousas, Benjamin Pavy (Fara Habetz) Boudreaux of Rayne, and Christopher Pavy (April Brister) Boudreaux, Sr. of Mobile, AL, She is survived by twelve grandchildren, Yvonne (Cameron) Allen (Austin, TX), Michael Davis Boudreaux, (Baton Rouge), Paul Davis Boudreaux (Austin, TX), Dr. Catherine (John) Broussard (Lafayette), Suzanne (Brandon) Aydlett (New Orleans), Adrienne Louise Boudreaux (Lafayette), Daniel Alfred Boudreaux (Opelousas), John Albert Pavy Boudreaux (Tucson, AZ), Annie Marie and Camille Ida Boudreaux (Rayne), Christopher Pavy Boudreaux, Jr. and James Eldridge Boudreaux (Mobile, AL) and one great grand child, James Richard Broussard.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Judge and Mrs. Benjamin Henry (Ida Veazie) Pavy, and her siblings, Alfred Veazie Pavy, Alfred Dudley Pavy, Albert Lionel Pavy, Mathille Pavy, Evelyn Laperle Pavy, Yvonne Pavy Weiss Bourgeois and Marie Aline Pavy.

The family expresses special thanks to Mildred Bearb and Liz Welch.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home.

On Thursday, visitation will continue at St. Landry Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning in the church.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
