Mary F. (Spirito), of Elizabeth, on Friday April 7, 2006, beloved wife of the late Charles J. Battenhausen Sr. (1999), loving mother of Barbara A., Leo J. and Charles D. Battenhausen, dear sister of Dr. Anthony M. Spirito, Leo J. Spirito, Edna M. Farrell and the late Luca J. Spirito (1984), also survived by two grandchildren, 16 nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral from The WERSON FUNERAL HOME, 635 N. Wood Ave., Linden, on Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Elizabeth, at 10 a.m. Entombment Mount Olivet Cemetery, Newark. Visiting hours Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Mass for Mrs. Mary F. Battenhausen, 78, a lifelong resident of Elizabeth, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Church, Elizabeth, after the funeral from the Werson Funeral Home, 635 N. Wood Ave., Linden. Mrs. Battenhausen, who died Friday in Trinitas Hospital, Elizabeth, was an international billing clerk for Exxon USA, Linden, for 20 years before retiring in 1990. Prior to that, she was a typist for Dun and Bradstreet, Newark, for more than 10 years. She was a member of the Exxon Annuitants Club. She formerly served as president and treasurer of the Rosary Society for Immaculate Conception Church, where she was a member of its Legion of Mary. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara A.; sons, Leo J. and Charles D.; brothers, Dr. Anthony M. Spirito and Leo J. Spirito; a sister, Edna M. Farrell, and two grandchildren.
