After her husband Robert Williams (a Justice of the Peace) died in Greensburg in 1821, Sally Williams took in boarders who were attending The Greensburg Academy. One of these (about 1828) was the noted Thomas Mellon, later Judge and scion of the wealthy Pittsburgh banking family. He made references to the Williams family as being a sort of "frontier nobility" in their gentle manner and high level of education in his memoirs.
