Mr. Ed Robert Johnson passed from this life Wednesday evening, June 24, 2015, in Santa Fe.
Born December 15, 1926 in Reddell, Louisiana, Mr. Johnson had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1969. He proudly served his country in both the U.S. Army and Air Force during World War II. He was a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church. Ed was very active in the church bus program, picking up children for many years. He also enjoyed church visitation, bringing many people to the Lord. In his spare time he enjoyed cutting the grass and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrien Joe and Amanda (Jordan) Johnson; wife, Myrtis (Clark) Johnson; brother, Arthur Johnson; sisters, Elsie Clegg, Clara Sonnier and Claudia Harris.
Survivors include his son, Bobby Randall Johnson and wife, Patti; daughter, Brenda Lea Johnson Rush; brother, Dowell Johnson; sister, Barbara Ann Johnson; grandchildren, Jon Michael Chapman, Natalie Johnson-Corgey, Michelle Evans, Erin Johnson-Perry, Melissa Evans-Copeland, Amanda Johnson Garthwaite, Sarah Harmeyer, Jessica Rush; great grandchildren, Joshua, Marcus, Jon, Jada, Mason, Katie, Kale, Jackson, Z.J., Olivia, Liam, Kalley; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Arcadia First Baptist Church, Dr. Jerry Smith officiating.
Pallbearers will be Mike Chapman, Jon Corgey, Zach Garthwaite, Will Harmeyer, Marcus Kay, Joshua Matchette, Jason Perry and Mason Perthuis.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
