Elder Jessie Mae Brown peacefully entered into eternal rest on September 17, 2010 at Orchard View Manor Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband the late William J. Brown Sr.

Elder Jessie Mae Brown was born in Green Country, Georgia. She opened up two churches in her lifetime. One in Polktin, NC and the other in South Carolina. She was an ordained Elder at New Hope Church of the Living God. She was a missionary and later became an evangelist. At New Hope she was a member of the choir, President of the Usher Board, and President of the local and state Evangelistic Board. New Hope Church of the Living God was where Elder Brown served under the leadership Dickerson for 41 years and at present under the leadership of Pastor Patricia B. Smith.

Elder Brown was also a beloved mother and grandmother. She was a business woman who opened one restaurant and one variety store in her lifetime. She also worked for the state of Rhode Island. Elder Brown was a licensed foster parent for over 20 years and was also deeply involved in elderly care.

She leaves behind 4 sons Rahja Laster, Patrick Carter, William Vierra, and David Vierra. She also leaves behind Stepchildren Phyllis, Lydia, John Stanley, and Ricky Brown. She also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by stepchildren William, Larry, and Stephen Brown. Along with A. Dorsey Williams.

Funeral 10am Monday, September 27th, at Mount Zion Church of God, 375 Cahill Street, Providence; viewing begins at 9am in church. Burial in Oakland Cemetery, 1569 Broad Street, Cranston.
