Mary's 1st husband died in 1925. In 1931, during the depression, her daughter-in-law Opal died. As money was so scarce, Mary gave up her own plot, next to her beloved husband of 30 years, for Opal. Mary would later re-marry, a union lasting another 39 years. Mary is buried next to Art.
"Grandma" was a wonderful, smart, witty, hardworking, vibrant woman, loved and admired by the 5 generations she left at the time of her death. She was the undisputed head of her huge family, the last word on family disputes. She enjoyed amazing health till after 100, remaining in her own home, doing all her own cooking and housework. She traveled into her 90s. She was an active member of her church and several social clubs, dancing most weekends at the Eagles. Of the many parties thrown for her 100th, Grandma danced at every one (that had music). She is missed.
