She is frequently mentioned in Norwalk Records and March 16, 1723-24, the town voted lands to Mary Betts and Company. At the date of the last land, in 1724, she must have been over 100 years old.∼According to "English Origins of New England Families, Second Series, Vol. I" Page 190, John Betts (father of Thomas Betts d. 1688) married Mary (maiden name unknown), and that after his death, she remarried John Bridger. Although this is also a secondary source, it is apparently drawing its data from parish records in West Peckham, England, primary sources. I suspect Mary's second married name Bridger/Bridge is being mistaken for her unknown maiden name, and as well as her identity being mistaken for that of her son's wife. Thomas (John's son) also married a Mary, maiden name unknown.
