JOB HASKELL MEGQUIER, JR.
OCTOBER 31, 1918
Job Haskell Megquier, Jr., was born in the village of Chatsworth, Ill. on November 14, 1860, and died at the county hospital on October, 25, 1918, aged 57 years, 11 months and 11 days.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Job Haskell Megquier, Sr. and was the second white child born in the village of Chatsworth limits. Mr. and Mrs. Megquier came to Illinois in 1858 and located on a farm near Oliver's Grove where they remained for two years farming and they then moved to the village and their's was the first home residence here, on the site where William Kneffner now lives and here the deceased was born.
He was united in marriage twenty eight years ago to Margaret Barnard, of Greenville, Maine, and to this union four children were born, three of whom survive their father, they being; John Belmont, of Chicago, who is very ill; Sarah Mary, of Gary, Ind., and Charles S., who is with the American Expeditionary army "Somewhere in France." The wife and youngest child preceded him in death. He is also survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Sarah Megquire, who resides here, and five brothers; Charles F., whose whereabouts is unknown; William N., of North Judson, Ind.; George F., who resides here with his mother; Edward E. and John A., of Gary, Ind., and one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Lovenstein, who resides here with her mother.
The deceased had been ill with leakage of the heart for the past year and went to the county hospital for treatment some time ago, but the disease had become so chronic that medical aid did not prevail in saving his life. Funeral services were held from the home of his mother in this city on Sunday, Rev. H. F. Schreiner conducting services, and the remains were laid to rest in the Chatsworth cemetery.
