Former Steamboat Springs resident Samuel Nelson Maddox Sr. died of natural causes at his Boulder home on June 26, 1993. He was 74.
Funeral services for Samuel are scheduled for Friday, July 2 at 11 a.m. in St. Aidan's Episcopal Church in Boulder.
Born March 15, 1919, in Baltzer, Miss., Samuel was the son of Joseph Stevens Maddox and the former Etta Hammond.
He served in the US Air Corp. in WW II.
On Sept. 7, 1947, Samuel married Patricia Evers in Boulder.
He earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting in 1948 from the University of Colorado.
For two years he worked as a public accountant in Cheyenne, Wyo, then moved to Denver where he worked as a CPA for the next 25 years.
Sam relocated his family to Steamboat Springs in November of 1975.
Upon finishing up business in Denver in the spring of 1976 he opened his own accounting office in the Sequoia Club Building where he specialized in auditing and taxes.
Sam and Pat Maddox returned to Boulder in 1987.
There, he was active at St. Aidan's and with the Mile High Chapter of the United Way.
Sam leaves his wife, Patricia E. Maddox of Boulder; one daughter, of Steamboat; four sons, and four grandchildren.
The family has requested contributions in lieu of flowers to St Aidan's Episcopal Church, 2425 Colorado Ave., Boulder.
