Obituary for 'Sollie' Walter
Bartholomew 'Sollie' Walter, 92, of Claysburg RR2, died Monday, Feb. 20,2006 at the Village at Morrisons Cove Martinsburg.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home, Duncansville , by Pastor Hoyt Williams. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 23, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery.
Mr. Walter was born May 22, 1913 in Claysburg, a son of Frank and Alice Walter.
He married Annie C. Herman in August of 1939.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, a daughter, a son-in-law and 2 granddaughters and 3 great grandchildren.
He was also survived by many special family members.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Anderson, a granddaughter, Pamela Anderson, and two grandsons, Jeff Dively and Sam Calvin.
He also was preceded in death by five sisters; Anna Knisely, Edith Walter, Ruth Feathers, Erie Dibert, and Molly Corle; and five brothers; Frank, Herb, Sam, Melvin and Elvin.
Mr. Walter owned and operated a sawmill for many years. He also was employed by General Refractories, Crane Co., and the Blair County Highway Department. He was a former supervisor and road worker for Greenfield Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Claysburg Church of God.
