SFC (Ret) Darrell “Deno” Meadows, age 65, resident of Waverly Hall, Georgia, died on Monday, June 29, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. Graveside services with full military honors are scheduled at Waverly Hall Cemetery, Waverly Hall, Georgia on Friday, July 3, 2015, 2 p.m. , according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. SFC Meadows, son of the late Charles Thomas Meadows and Charles Lea Miller Meadows, was born October 10, 1949 in Dexter, Missouri. He was retired from the U.S. Army, where he served more than 23 years of honorable service. During his distinguished military career, he served in Vietnam and was awarded numerous medals and ribbons to include the Air Medal; Bronze Star; Purple Heart w/OLC; Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal w/OLC; Vietnam Service Medal w/silver service star; and Combat Infantry Badge. After his retirement from the military, he worked at Bill Heard Chevrolet for over 10 years. SFC Meadows was a lifetime member of VFW, Post 558, Cataula, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Elise McTier Meadows, and a sister, Frances Raines. SFC Meadows is survived by three sons, Michael Dean Meadows of Reno, Nevada, Stephen Meadows, and Terry Mann and his wife Melinda of Waverly Hall, Georgia; one daughter, Tara Hale and her husband Matthew of Waverly Hall, Georgia; three sisters, Dorothy Moore of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Sharon Side of Dexter, Missouri, and Carol Jean Conley and her husband Lee of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; one brother, Thomas Meadows of Riverside, California; five grandchildren, Summer Hale, Meagan Hale, Bailey Hale, Michael Meadows, Jr. and Wyatt Hale; many other relatives and friends.
