WINDSOR, VT William C. Bacon, 83, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Tuesday evening, June 30 at his home in Windsor surrounded by family. He was born April 1, 1932 in North Randolph, VT the son of Arthur J. and Bessie (LaPorte) Bacon. He received his schooling in Randolph and Windsor, and attended Windsor High School. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict with communications in the Armored Tank Battalion. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Windsor. He married Alberta Perry in Windsor on May 13, 1956. Bill was employed as a crane operator by Miller Construction in Windsor for forty three years. He retired in 1999. He enjoyed hunting and especially taking fishing excursions with his longtime friend, Bill Tansey. He also greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, Arthur Bacon, Jr., Edward Bacon and Robert Bacon, and six sisters, Arnita Gifford, Thelma Page, Mona Erskine, Della Day, Alice Lee, and infant sister, Greta Bacon. Survivors include his wife, Alberta Bacon of Windsor, three sons, Dana Bacon, Dale Bacon and Darin Bacon and his wife, Shirley all of Windsor, two grandchildren, Zachary Bacon and his fiancée, Amanda Chase of Windsor and Ashley Gaucher and her husband, Benjamin and one great granddaughter, Sydney Gaucher, all of Kannapolis, NC, several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday evening, July 6 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 7 at 11:00 AM in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor. The Rev. Amanda Lape-Freeberg, Pastor of the Old South Congregational Church in Windsor will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA and Hospice of VT & NH at 66 Benning Street, West Lebanon, NH 03784.
