John F. Burlack, 64, of Smithville, formerly of Marshall, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born Nov. 2, 1939, in Wishek, N.D., he was the son of the late Phillip Burlack and Freda Ritter Burlack. On Dec. 6, 1963, in Ashley, N.D., he married Marilyn Henz, who preceded him in death Dec. 13, 1991. He had lived in Marshall for 12 years previous to moving to Smithville two years ago. He retired from ConAgra in Marshall. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Malta Bend American Legion Post 558. Survivors include five daughters, April Williams of Las Vegas, Nev., May Tomporowski of Springfield, June McCammon of Platte City, Spring Shalbie of Washington, Ind., and Dawn Basye of Smithville; two sons, Adam Burlack of Liberty and Brook Burlack of Liberty; four sisters, Erma Zavilowitz of New York, N.Y., and Alma Heupel, Eileen Ketterling and Marion Vossler, all of Wishek, N.D.; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
