Elmo Abernathy, 19-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Abernathy, 635 Pontotoc Avenue, died from a heart attack yesterday morning at Normal Station. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon from the residence.

To Dedicate Trees.
An interesting programme has been arranged for Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, when a number of trees at the Central High School will be dedicated. Musical numbers will be rendered by the school orchestra and short addresses will be made by Mrs. Isaac Reese, Mrs. J. M. McCormack, ex-Mayor T. C. Ashcroft, Dr. William Fineshriber, Miss Florence Schloss, Mr. C. J. Haase and Mr. Elmo Abernathy. The public has been invited.

In the Commercial Appeal Newspaper dated May 4, 1918, it states:
"Twenty-five members of the senior class of the West Tennessee Normal School each purchased a $50 Liberty bond, Dr. J. W. Brister informed Mr. Jordan. The students will pay for the bonds with the first money they earn teaching school." Elmo Abernathy of 635 Pontotoc was one of those students.

SENIOR NIGHT AT NORMAL
Playlet and Patriotic Pageant Are Features of Celebration.
"Senior class night was celebrated at the West Tennessee State Normal School last evening by a playlet entitled "The School and Its Relation to the War," and a patriotic pageant, "The Drawing of the Sword."

"In the pageant the herald was portrayed by Cecil Yates, while the tribute of Truth, Liberty and Justice were represented by Katherine Gill, Ellis Norment and Elmo Abernathy. The various allied nations in the great war were represented by other students."
