Jean I. Elliott, 93, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Oakview Nursing Home, in Conrad, IA. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., August 19, 2014, at Anderson Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com

Jean was born in Vienna Township on the Fleming Farm August 29, 1920 to John Roy and Etta (Milholland) Fleming. She went to Vienna Country School #6 and the Green Mountain Consolidated School, graduating in 1939. Jean was united in marriage to Russell B. Elliott February 18, 1942 on the family farm in rural Gladbrook. They lived on the farm in Marion Township for 36 years. Russell passed away March 10, 1978. Jean continued to live on the farm for 29 years after his death before moving to Oak Estates, in Conrad, on November 2, 2007, with the last two years at Oakview Nursing Home.

Jean is survived by her son, Raymond (Sharon) Elliott of Marshalltown, two grandchildren; Jennifer (Mike) Lada of Garwin, IA, Ryan Elliott of Carson City, NV, four great grandchildren; Taylor Jean Tremaine, Allison Kay Tremaine, Timothy Elliott, Marcus Elliott, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by grandparents, parents JR and Etta Fleming, in 1980, husband, Russell in 1978, granddaughter, Leora Elliott, in 1974, brothers, Richard and John Fleming, sister, Vera Hall, and many aunts and uncles.

Jean lived a busy life as a Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and a Homemaker on the farm. She was a member of Three M Federated Club, in Green Mountain, United Church of Christ, and Women’s Fellowship, in Green Mountain. She was a member of Cow Belles of North Square Shooter 4H Club, Tall Corn Trailriders, Wildlife Club, and the Travel Club of YWCA which traveled widely over the United States and Canada.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice. The family is requesting casual dress for the services. The family wants to thank the staff at Oakview Estates, Oakview Nursing Home and Iowa River Hospice for her excellent care.
