Thelma Ferrett, 86, of Gaylord died on Feb. 22, 2013, at Aspen Ridge.Mrs. Ferrett was born April 1, 1926, in South Bend, Ind., to Roy E. and Eunice E. (Russell) Black. She spent her early childhood in Indiana until her family moved to Johannesburg in 1931.She graduated from Vanderbilt High School in 1943. She was a member of Vanderbilt Community Church choir for 20 years.
Mrs. Ferrett worked 16 years for Grant Air Mass in Vanderbilt as a secretary, worked at Standard Products in Gaylord for 10 years, worked as a nurse's aide at Alpine Center in Gaylord until it closed, and her favorite job was working at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Rapids for 12 years before retiring. After retiring, she and her husband spent the summers in Gaylord and the winters in Yuma, Ariz., area for 20 years.She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, William L. Ferrett; her parents, Roy and Eunice Black; and her brothers, Ralph, Lester and Leroy.
She is survived by her sister; her loving children and grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at the Nelson Funeral Home on Sunday, March 3, at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor E. J. Wolfe officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
