Before her marriage to Abram D. Jenney on 20 March 1842, Sally Ann Griffin taught school in Fitchville. Sally and her parents Henry Griffin and Elizabeth Merritt moved to that town in 1833 from Greene County, NY where Sally was born. After their marriage, Sally and Abram had 10 children of their own and also opened their home to family members and others who needed a helping hand. Children of Abram and Sally Griffin Jenney were: James 1842-1922, George D., Cornelia, Smith 1849-1852, Mary Jane 1852-1897, Chloe 1854-1931, Alfred 1857-after 1931, Charles 1859-1953 and two other children who died young.
