Joshua began his Vietnam tour on Oct 20, 1966 and was assigned to C Battery, 1st Battalion, 44th Artillery Regiment, 1 Field Force, USARV.
The convoy that he was in was ambushed with heavy automatic s/a fire, mortars and grenades near the Ca Lu Airfield. This ambush resulted in 5 other soldiers being killed and 23 WIA.
Survived by his parents, Joshua and Aileen Atkins.
