Calvin Mays "C.M." Shewmaker, II, 93, of Lawrenceburg, formerly of Harrodsburg, husband of 14 years of Betty Ann Gash Shewmaker, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 at the V.A. Medical Center - Cooper Dr., Lexington. Born February 22, 1922 in Mercer County, KY, he was the son of the late Calvin Mays and Lucille Bartholomew Shewmaker. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Frances Ellis Shewmaker.

A 1940 graduate of Harrodsburg High School and a graduate of the Superior State Teachers College in Wisconsin. C.M. was the former owner of KY Souvenirs, Inc. and Antique Mall in Harrodsburg retiring in 2013. He served as a Cadet Warrant Officer in the U.S. Air Force during W.W. II. A current member of the Sand Spring Baptist where he helped teach the Freedom/Fellowship Class. He was a former member, elder, chairman of the board, Sunday school teacher for 67 years at the Harrodsburg Christian Church. He served as past president of the Mercer County Fair & Horse Show, past president of the KY Assoc. of County Fairs & Horse Shows, past member of the Harrodsburg Board of Education, and a member of the American Legion Post #34.

Along with his wife, C.M. is survived by a son, Calvin (Betty Sue) Shewmaker III of Harrodsburg; a daughter, Linda Shewmaker Hood of Harrodsburg; daughter-in-law Everice Shewmaker of Harrodsburg; two step-sons, Ron Gash of Nashville, TN and Ed (Kim) Gash of Springboro, OH; a step-daughter, Sharon (Shaun) Winter of Brentwood, TN; 6 grandchildren, Jessica (Daniel) Mays, Angela (Matt) Falcone, Bentley (Lewissa) Shewmaker, Christine (Travis) Johnson, Adam (Kourtney) Shewmaker, Blake (Courtney) Shewmaker; several great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren, Karen Winter, Claire and Shelby Winter, Kelsey and Brandon Gash; a brother, Horace (Dorothy) Shewmaker of Cobbtown, GA; half brothers, Robert (Barbara) Shewmaker of Harrodsburg and Thomas (Diane) Shewmaker of China Grove, NC; and a sister-in-law Sharon Shewmaker of Harrodsburg; several nieces and nephews.

Along with his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tony Ellis Shewmaker, a son-in-law Butch Hood, a brother, John William and half brother, Berry Shewmaker. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
