Audrey J. Abhalter (nee Besch), age 89, a resident of Naperville, IL, a former longtime resident of Oswego and Aurora, IL, died Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Seasons Hospice Home in Naperville. She was born June 7, 1926 in Aurora, IL.
Beloved wife the late Gerald C. "Jerry" Abhalter, whom she married September 11, 1946 and who preceded her in death August 3, 1997, loving mother of David N. Abhalter of Naperville, adored grandmother of Elizabeth "Beth" (Christopher) Zipko of Mahtomedi, MN, cherished great-grandmother of Charlie, Violet and Jack, devoted daughter of the late Fredrich and Verna (nee Hafenrichter) Besch, dear sister of Shirley Hozie of Plano, IL and the late Norman (Alice Besch of Aurora) Besch, fond aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.
Audrey grew up on her family's farm in Oswego, IL, was a graduate of Oswego High School and worked at the Federal Bakery and Sensenbaughs Department Store. After marrying, she moved to Aurora and worked at Abhalters Food Store. Audrey was a current member of St. Irene Catholic Church, Warrenville and a former parishioner at Sacred Heart, St. Joseph and Annunciation BVM Catholic Churches in Aurora. She was a volunteer at Old St. Joseph's Hospital in Aurora, IL (now Presence Mercy Hospital) and enjoyed traveling, animals of all kinds and good times spent with friends and family, especially her granddaughter and great-grandchildren.
