Richard T. "Zeke" Collins, 83, of Port Clinton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

He was born on June 13, 1924, in Port Clinton, the son of Thomas and Etta (Welsh) Collins. On June 25, 1949, in Woodville, Ohio, he married Juanita B. Crone and she survives. Richard was a set up operator for General Motors (New Departure Hyatt) retiring in 1988. He was a veteran having served in the U. S. Army. Richard was a member of the Christian Science Society of Port Clinton. He graduated from Lakeside High School in 1943. Richard was a lifetime member of UAW Local 913. He attended the Tuesday Morning prayer breakfast at Trinity United Methodist Church and helped with the set up and tear down of the room. Richard was a hard worker and a dedicated family man. He enjoyed playing golf. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Juanita B. Collins of Port Clinton; children, Diane (Bob) Mazur of Danbury Township, Deborah (Charles) Whiting of Port Clinton, Carol (Verl) Reed of Port Clinton, Richard (Donna) Collins of Toledo, Jerri (Thomas) Beard of Waterville, Ohio, and Lisa (Chad) Smith of Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Jennifer Waggoner, Christina Grimm, Eric Grimm, Joshua Grimm, Monica Whiting, Michael Whiting, Charles Whiting III, Jacob Reed, Steven Reed, Nicole Reed, Dustin Collins, Christopher Collins, Amy Collins, Anthony Beard, Matthew Beard, Kelly Beard and twin grandsons, Kyle and Andrew Smith; great-grandchildren, Travis Waggoner, Tyler Waggoner, Olivia Dove, Madelyn Grimm, Matthew Grimm, Brandon Mooney, Lauren Mooney, Mason Whiting, Courtney Whiting and Andrew Collins; brother, Dale E. (Jean) Collins of Port Clinton and five nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Calvin B. Collins; and great-grandson, Trevor Waggoner.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, in Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, where services will be 11 a.m. Friday. Pastor Bruce Batchelor-Glader will officiate. Interment will be in Christy Chapel Cemetery, Port Clinton, where a military graveside service will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be given in memory of Richard to the Men's Prayer Breakfast at Trinity United Methodist Church; Stein Hospice of Sandusky; or the Marblehead Volunteer Fire Department.
