BERRY, RICHARD M., SR., 70, passed away April 3, 2003. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Vera and Broadus Berry. He graduated from Clemson University with honors in 1953. He served his country in the Army Signal Corps in Tokyo, Japan. He began his career with Southern Bell in Atlanta, Georgia in 1956 and retired after 38 years from BellSouth in Birmingham as a Manager of Special Services.

He was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus serving as Faithful Navigator, Grand Knight. and Council Treasurer as part of his 44 years as a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church He was a member and Treasurer for many years of the Serra Club of Birmingham.

Mr. Berry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Anne Marie, four sons, Richard M. Berry, Jr., (Laurie) Michael P. Berry, (Jan), Robert A. Berry (Gina) and Mark S. Berry (Laurie) and one daughter, Susan M. Molloy (Chip). He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Kathleen Berry. He leaves nine grandchildren, Richard III, Christopher, Patrick, Robert II, Alex, Nicholas Molloy, Kevin Molloy, Jessica Molloy, and Emily Pierce.

The wake service will be at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Sunday, April 6, 2003 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 7, 2003 at St. Francis Xavier Church. A Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Honor Guard will attend both services. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be sent to St. Mark the Evangelist Church Building Fund, 1115 Meadow Drive, Birmingham, AL 35242.
