Ruth M. (Brewer) Mungeam, 94, of 28 Rebecca Ave., Hudson, a longtime resident of Berlin, died Thursday in the Thornton Nursing Home in Northboro.

She was born in Bolton, daughter of Alfred D. and Julia C. (Walcott) Brewer, and lived here all her life until moving to Hudson in 1993. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1922.

For ten years, Mrs. Mungeam was a telephone operator here before the switch over to dial phones. She was a member of the First Parish Church of Berlin and its Evening Guild, the Berlin Arts and Historical Society and the Berlin Senior Citizens. She served on the Board of Library Trustees and later served as an assistant librarian. She sang in a ladies' quartet known as the "Harmonettes."

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in First Parish Church of Berlin, 24 Central St. Following cremation, burial will be in South Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow in Merrill-Carleton Funeral Home, 1 Pleasant St., Hudson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Parish Church of Berlin, 24 Central St., Berlin 01503; or the Berlin Arts and Historical Society, c/o Edith Brewer, 31 Highland St., Berlin 01503.
