Fannie K. Mellinger was the youngest child of Martin Mellinger and Anna Kauffman. One of 12 children, she grew up on the family farm in Manor Twp., Lancaster County, Penna. The marriage of Fannie to Abram Long Hershey, son of Jacob H. Hershey and Susan Long was blessed with seven children, five of whom lived to adulthood.
