She was born April 20, 1934, a daughter of the late John Zeber and Lilla Mary Mitchell Smith in Dover, NC. She was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was married to the late Rev. Matthew Brooks. She was employed by Longland Plantation.
