Funeral services for E. Darden Borders, 79, of 207 N. Forest Avenue in Marietta, will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Marietta's First Baptist Church. The Rev. George F. Brown and the Rev. I. B. Hall will officiate. Entombment will be in Westview Abbey.

Mr. Borders, a former Atlantan, died Monday in Kennestone Hospital.

A native Georgian, he spent his early life in Cedartown and lived in Atlanta before moving to Marietta 16 years ago. He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Marietta and was a former Mason and Shriner. In Atlanta, he had been an active member of the Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church.

Retired five years ago from the Acme Lumber Co. in Acworth, he had been in the building supply business most of his life. He was associated with the Campbell Coal Co. and Randall Brothers in Atlanta.

Mr. Borders is survived by his wife, the former Madge Taylor; two daughters, Mrs. J. L. Henderson of Rome and Mrs. H. E. Cofer Jr. of Montezuma; a son, Bill M. Borders of Marietta; two step-daughters, Mrs. Harmon St. Clair of Marietta, and Miss Mary Taylor of Williamston, N.C., and nine grandchildren.

The friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. E. Darden Borders, Marietta: Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Henderson, Rome; Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Cofer Jr., Montezuma; Mr. and Mrs. Bill M. Borders, Mrs. Harmon St. Clair, Marietta; Miss Mary Taylor, Williamston, N.C., and the grandchildren are invited to attend the funeral of Mr. E. Darden Borders at 2:30, Tuesday, in the chapel of the Marietta First Baptist Church, Rev. George F. Brown and the Rev. I. B. Hall, The Rev. Eugene Murray and the Rev. Gordon Thompson officiating. Entombment, Westview Abbey. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers and meet at the funeral home at 2 p.m.: Wesley McRae, Haywood Elliott Jr., William McCollum, Tommy McRae, Julian Shannon and Shuler Antley. Deacons of the First Baptist Church will serve as honorary escort and will meet at the church at 2:10. Hay Funeral Home, Marietta.
