OBITUARY OF FRANKIE TARABA

Frankie James Taraba, son of John and Rosa [Mlika] Taraba, was born near Ridgeway, Mo., November 25, 1911, and departed this life January 16, 1918, at St. Joseph, Mo., in the Ensworth Hospital, Age 6 years, 1 month and 22 days.

The body was brought home and funeral services were conducted by the writer on Thursday afternoon January 17, at the Banner Church [near Cainsville Mo.]. The house was nearly filled with friends and neighbors who gathered to shed tears of sympathy with the heart broken parents. The music was especially appropriate and well rendered. The songs were. "Asleep in Jesus," "Death is only a Dream," "Jewels" [or "When He Cometh"], and "Jesus Lover of My Soul."

The Text used was Mark 10:14-15. The writer tried to speak words of consolation by showing the true characteristics of real life are embodied in childhood--faith, hope, and love.

Mourn not, the dead, though like the flower
Just opening to the morning ray,
Nipped by diseases, cruel power,
They fell from love's embrace away,
Where breathes no chill or tainted air,
Where falls no darkness of the tomb,
They prove the loving Savior's care,
And blossom in immortal bloom.

May God guide and comfort the bereaved ones and gather them at last as a reunited family where there is no sadness of farewell is my prayer. Noel T. Adams.

(Bethany Republican-Clipper, Bethany, Harrison County, Missouri, Wednesday, January 23, 1918)

NOTE: Besides his parents Frankie is survived by his little brother, George of the home; grandparents, Maria (Pomazal) Taraba, Ridgeway, and Frank and Anna (Karsky) Mlika, Cainsville; great-grandmothers, Katerina (Simkova) Mlika, Cainsville and Anna (Dolezal) Taraba, Chicago, Ill.; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
