Born August 3, 1922, to the late Paul and Angeline (Payette) Martin, Eunice was raised in Marquette, attended St. John's School, and remained a lifelong Marquette resident. On September 29, 1943, Eunice married Frank E. LaBelle in Durham, North Carolina, while he was serving in the military. Frank preceded Eunice in death on August 17, 1996. A homemaker for most of her life, Eunice also worked at Donckers as well as the University Center at Northern Michigan University. Eunice enjoyed walking, bicycling, gardening, and traveling. Her favorite destination place was Monte Carlo in the French Riviera. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church where she was an active member of the choir as well as the church's altar society.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Roy) Sarosik of Marquette; a grandson, Anthony (Corrie) LaCombe; four great-granddaugthers, Ashley (LaCombe) Mejia, Jessica, Lexi, and Hailee LaCombe; two great great-grandchildren, Audrianna and Daniel (Mejia); step-granddaughter, Kim Johnson; several nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Eunice was preceded in death by her sisters; Mary Chandler and Leona Jacobson; brothers, Walter Martin and Raymond Martin; and her special friend, Donald DeRocher.
A celebration of Eunice's long and happy life will take place Sunday, August 2, 2015, at her home, 1515 Fitch Avenue, Marquette, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A private burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
