Mabel Augusta Thrailkill grew up on the farm of her parents, Charles Augustus and Della Wilcoxson Thrailkill, along with her younger brother Cleo "George".

Mabel first married Clark Foster Stafford, 01 April 1925, at Bethany, Harrison County, Missouri. She was 14, Clark was 19. Their son Waldo was born in 1928. Waldo is found in the 1930 and 1940 US Censuses, living on the farm with his maternal grandparents near Eagleville, Harrison County, Missouri. Mabel and Clark divorced.

On 3 December 1932, in Clay County, MO, Mabel and Homer Alvin Darling were married. Homer was the son of William D. and Lula M. Darling, born 12 Sept 1910 in Missouri. Homer and Mabel were living in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California in the 1940 US Census, where Homer was a Chef, and Mabel worked as a Power Machine Operater in a Garment Factory. Homer died 4 August 1948 in Los Angeles, CA. His thrity-eighth birthday was approaching.

In 1951, Mabel amd World War II Veteran Sergeant George Harold Barker were married. George was born 10 July 1904 and died 28 August 1959 in Eldora, Hardin County, Iowa and was buried in the Eagleville Masonic Cemetery, Eagleville, Harrison County Missouri. He was 55 years old.

Mabel cared for her mother before her mother died in 1979.

Mabel A. Barker died 22 July 1992 and is buried beside her husband in the Eagleville Masonic Cemetery, Eagleville, Harrison County, Missouri.
