AX WOUND PROVES FATAL TO MAN, 58
Hiram Metcalf, 58 years old, died at 10 o'clock this morning in St. John's hospital as the result of an ax wound in his leg, suffered last fall. He lived at 734 Ohio Avenue.
Mr. Metcalf was cutting wood near his home when he cut his left leg near the knee with an ax. Infection set in shortly afterwards.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Susie Metcalf; three sons, Claude Metcalf, at home; Roy Metcalf of Springfield and Glenn Metcalf, 720 East Ninth street; three daughters, Mrs. Flora Erwin and Mrs. Ida Marshall of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Millie(Nellie) Jennings of Winterset, Ia.; three brothers, Lyish(Elisha) Metcalf and John Metcalf, both of Neosho, and Lidge(Elijah) Metcalf of Colorado, and three sisters, Mrs. Susie Lee and Mrs. Lucy Long of Exeter, Mo., and Mrs. Martha Ridleer(should be Ridenour) of Ridgedale, Mo. He was member of the Freewill Baptist church at Rocky Comfort.

Married (1) Dorathy Elizabeth "Sis" Harrison on 30 Sept 1897 in Barry Co, MO; (2) Susie Cash, between Jan 1920 & 1923. Hiram and Lizzie (Harrison) had the following children: NELLIE, FLORA, ROY, IDA,& GLENN.
