He began his Vietnam tour on 2 April 1969 was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade, 4th Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, Company C.
Steve died as a result of gunshot wounds to the body from hostile small arms during Operation Washington Green.
