The son of Benjamin and Thankful Taylor Cary. He was a shopjoiner in Providence Co. and served as a Continental soldier at Trenton and Princeton, NJ and with the militia at the battle of Rhode Island. He probably died before 1800 though the grave location is uncertain. He was closely associated with his brother-in-law, Chad Brown for whom he named a son.


They had the following children:
i. Ebenezer (1765-)
ii. Chad (1773-1839)
iii. Asa (~1774-1847)
iv. Sally (~1777-)
