Our beloved Janie Antoinette O’Connor, 62, finally got her wings on 6 July 2015 and is now lying in the arms of the Lord.

Janie left her home in Marienville Pennsylvania after graduating high school and joined the U.S. Air Force on 4 December 1970. She served her country well for 4 years as an administrative specialist and continued serving by changing over to Civil Service. Her last job position was as a Budget Analyst working at Hurlburt Field. She accomplished 34 years of outstanding service before deciding to retire. After retirement she remained active as a volunteer in her church putting in time in the office and participating in the church’s WINGS group, which supports the congregation’s widows.

Janie is survived by her brother Jim, his wife Athina, and her niece Isabelle. She also has very close friends, Beth Bauer, Dave Baumgartner, Sam Peek and Delilah Richmond who loved her unconditionally until her last breath. Her legacy will live on in all of us and when we think of her we will smile and remember the loving and giving person that she was. There are many other friends who will miss her smiling face as much as we will. She was preceded in death by her husband John O’Connor. In addition she was preceded in death by her parents, a half sister and four half brothers.

Her memorial service will be held Saturday, 18 July 2015 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church Mary Esther, 28 North Street, Mary Esther, Fl with a reception to follow the service. Military honors will be conducted during the service. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola Florida.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests you make a charitable donation to the charity of your choice. She always said she wanted her flowers while she was living and hopefully many of us accomplished that for her.

Thank you to First Baptist Church Mary Esther for allowing us to celebrate the life of Janie O’Connor with them and also many thanks to Davis-Watkins Funeral Home for taking such good care of her on her journey to heaven.
