Kirsting Ollen Barr

Kirsting Ollen Barr, age 92, of Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at his home. He was born in Iberia on September 21, 1922, son of the late William and Cora (Kelsay) Barr. On January 17, 1947, in Iberia, Kirsting married Rosalie Aust, who preceded him in death on January 24, 1989.
Kirsting served in the United States Army during WWII from November 24, 1942 until his honorable discharge on February 24, 1946. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and VFW.
Kirsting was a past member of Hickory Point Baptist Church in Iberia and was recently a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Charles.
He is survived by one son, John Barr and wife Yurong of Homosassa, Florida, one daughter, Trudy Barr and husband Richard Novasak of Overland Park, Kansas; two grandchildren, Amanda Briley and James Barr both of Marshfield; one step-grandchild, Jasmin Yu of Homosassa; and one sister, Loetta Grady of Arnold, MO.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Basil Barr and Radford Barr; and two sisters, Malone Thompson and Francil Barr.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, in Hickory Point Cemetery near Iberia. Bro. Marshall Conklin will officiate.
