She married Windford "Junior" Adams in Henderson, KY on September 21, 1946, and he preceded her in death January 24, 1995.
Helen was affectionately known by her grandkids, great-grandkids, and many others as "Granny-Great". Many knew "Granny-Great" due to her enjoyment and attendance of Lawrenceville High School sports. She loved to watch or listen to her grandkids participate in LHS sports.
Helen was a cook for many years. She was the head cook for Unit 20 School District for over 30 years, Lawrence County Senior Citizens for 5 years after retiring from Unit 20, and she also had cooked at the Candlelight.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lawrenceville for many years where she was a Sunday School teacher. Helen was very active in Girls Scout/Camp Girls activities as a leader and board member. She was also a Camp Girls Summer Camp cook for 42 years. Helen was member of the American Legion Auxiliary as well.
Surviving family includes: two daughters of Lawrenceville: Linda Yost and Brenda Griggs and her husband Mike: three grandchildren- Kim Yost Winningham of Lawrenceville, Debbie Griggs of Lawrenceville, and Nick Griggs and his wife Hillary of Bridgeport: one son-in-law- Dan Primus of Lawrenceville: five great-grandchildren- Ashton Primus, Bryce, Blayne, and Brenyn Winningham, and Briar Griggs: two sisters-in-law- Dorothy Stice of Casey and Patricia Adams of St. Francisville: and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents- Orville and Isis Stice: her husband- Windford "Junior" Adams: one granddaughter- Angie Yost Primus: two brothers: and 3 siblings in infancy.
A funeral service for Helen Lucille Adams will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will take place in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
