Doris was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Wahoo, Neb., the daughter of William and Bertha Ellen (Kimes) Brown. She had lived in Nebraska, Washington and Iowa.
She was united in marriage to Carl Hansen Eldhardt on Nov. 29, 1940, in Sioux City. She was a homemaker. Carl passed away Oct. 2, 1994.
She was a volunteer at the Senior Center in Akron, Iowa. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, arts and crafts, long walks with her husband, spending time with her grandchildren and writing poetry.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Carmichael of Georgia, Sharon Sherman of Aurora, Colo., and Susan and her husband, Duane Divis of Hawarden, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; a great-granddaughter; and several brothers and sisters.
