CMSgt. W.C. (Bill) Bowen (USAF Retired), 84, of Overland Park, Kan. passed away on July 15, 2015, due to complications from Alzheimer's. Bill was born in Sand Springs, Okla., on March 19, 1931. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nev. While stationed there, Bill married his wife, Edie, and they moved to Grandview, Mo., where he continued in the Air Force Reserves at Richards Gebaur Air Force Base for the remainder of his career. Like many of his Greatest Generation, his priorities were God, Family, and Country. Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and was faithful in Christian service throughout his life. He especially enjoyed time with his four grandsons, and they each have special memories of their "Papa." Bill and Edie spent their retirement in Naples, Fla., where he enjoyed golfing, swimming, and especially watching the sunsets over the Gulf. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Edie Bowen; his daughter, Cindi Kimmel, husband John, and their two sons, Jeff and Mark; his daughter, Michelle, husband Walt, and their two sons, Chris and Steven; his sister, Nell Williamson; sister-in-law, June Bowen, and many loved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Dixi Bowen; his brothers, Kenneth Bowen and Jody Bowen; and sister, Imogene Keller. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at College Church of the Nazarene, 2020 E. Sheridan, Olathe. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 20, in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
