Parents:Odias Menard and Marie Alzire Bernard Menard; paternal grandparents:Ulger Menard and Marie Charlotte Cora Champagne;maternal grandparents:Felix Bernard and Honorine Begnaud Bernard; married Kenneth Terrell Hoffman in 1941 in Louisianna and remained married until his death in 1997; two daughters:Sharalon Marie Hoffman Williams born in 1944 and Jacquelyn L. Hoffman Striplin born in 1949; 5 brothers:Farris Menard, George Menard, Oliver J. Menard, Loyd Menard, and John William Menard; 4 sisters: Ethel Menard Doucet, Lucille Menard Hoffpauir, Hazel Menard Falcon, and Letha Marie Menard Sonnier. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was born into the Catholic faith, but became a member of the Methodist Church in 1958. Though mostly a stay at home Mom, Marie did briefly work in retail clothing at Sears and Roebuck in Houston, Texas, and at B. Williams and Sons in Seminole, Texas. Marie enjoyed sewing, cooking, and keeping her grandkids. She was fastidious about her house and was constantly cleaning or rearranging her housewares. Coming from Louisianna, she could make some mean Cajun food - I especially liked her chicken okra gumbo and chicken fricasse! She enjoyed the sun room addition to her back porch, and had a gazebo built in the shady backyard of their home where K.T. would barbecue for family gatherings. She had a porch swing hung on one end of the gazebo where she would sit and drink coffee while talking to her Dachshund "Buddy". One of the funniest things that she ever did was when she put tostados in the toaster to heat them up and the toaster caught on fire from the grease in the tostados. The under side of one of the kitchen cabinets also caught on fire and got singed before she could get the toaster unplugged and out of the way. Even though the "blaze" was contained and no real damage was inflicted, she took a lot of ribbing about the "torched tostados". Marie succumbed to respiratory arrest secondary to small cell lung cancer. She lived for six days after the diagnosis of lung cancer.
