She was the daughter of the late Joseph Rueben and Mary Alice Montgomery Carrico. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Zellar Smith, March 7, 1987, three sons, Guy Frederick, Jan. 1997, William Douglas, June 20, 2004 and Michael Wayne Smith, Nov. 18, 2012; two brothers, Rueben and Robert Carrico; and two sisters, Margaret Ann Tingle and Mary Alice Carrico.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. She is survived by five sons, Benny and Bobby Smith, both of Florence, Ruben Smith of Bardstown, Randall Smith of Williamstown and Kenny Smith of Springfield; two daughters, Patsy Poff of Harrodsburg and Charlotte Thomas of Loretto; one brother, Paul Carrico of Louisville; and one sister, Catherine McIlvoy of Burgin; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Springfield with Rev. Kevin McGrath, O.P. officiating. Burial was in Lebanon National Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Frank and John Mattingly, Del, Steve and Scott Smith and Matt and Chris Thomas.
