Born February 13, 1930, in Burlington, he was the son of Ralph Kenneth and Dasie Marie Gulich Baker. On October 3, 1947, he married Mary Jane Murray in Burlington. She died April 2, 2015.
George worked as a Meat Department Manager, Director, and Vice President of Operations for Nash Finch Co., Benner Tea, Lucky, and I.G.A. for 47 years, retiring in 1995.
He attended schools in Burlington.
He was a member of Grace Anglican Church, the Elks Lodge #2160 and was a Boy Scouts Leader for troop #408. He enjoyed traveling on vacations and spending time with his family and friends.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Helen M. Carr, one brother, Charles B. Baker, and one niece.
