By 1883 he and his family came to what later became Fivay, bringing with them Sussanah's parents. Her parents died within a few years and were buried on the edge of a pond on their land which is called Vereen Pond. In 1888 Bellamy deeded two acres to be used for a Methodist Church and cemetery. The church was built by his family and neighbors and was used for a time as the local schoolhouse. It later burned and a school was built across from the church site. In February 1891 Bellamy was the first person to be buried in the cemetery named for his wife's parents.
