Carolyn Lee Ambrose, 68, a lifetime Harbor resident, died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen, Monday, November 12, 2012. Carolyn was born in Maryville, MO, December 2, 1943, the daughter of Virgil M. and Mary A. (Ebrecht) Blacketer. She came with her family to the Harbor at the age of 5 and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1961.
She had worked for many years in hospitality work. She had worked at the Trave-Lure Motel from 1978 until 1988 and the Aberdeen Eagles from 1984 to 1993. She then went to Sun City, AZ and had worked at Safeway for two years before being a hostess for eight years at the Royal Oaks Retirement Center, retiring in 2003
Carolyn was a member of the Aberdeen Eagles and had served as its president. She also enjoyed flower gardening, and was a member of the Rose Society. She read biographies, liked country music, especially Merle Haggard.
She is survived by a sister, Helen Jean Sowers, Aberdeen; a niece, Patricia Lopez, with whom she lived, and a nephew, Dale and Monica Atwood. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Blacketer and a sister, Patricia Atwood.
Visitation will be from 9 AM until service time, Monday, November 19th at Fern Hill Funeral Home, Aberdeen. A graveside service will be held in Fern Hill Cemetery, Monday at 11 AM. Pastor Ken Middleton of Harbor Assembly of God Church, Hoquiam, will officiate.
