CUMBERLAND Fred Bernard Abe, 74, of Cumberland, died Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Born on May 9, 1941 in Oldtown, MD, Freddie is the son of the late James W. and Vertius C. (Santimyier) Abe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Bill Abe, Terry Abe, Kenny Abe, Bonnie Jean (Abe) Noland, Shirley (Abe) Yarder and Debbie (Abe) Loar.
Fred graduated from Oldtown School in 1960. He worked for Ort's Bread as a delivery salesman. He also worked for Coca-Cola of Cumberland from 1968 till 1985 as a route salesman.
He continued his career at Macko Guardrail from 1985 till 2008 at which time he retired. In addition to working part time at Jerry's Subs and Pizza, he was also active in his church Rawlings United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Cresaptown Eagles. Fred enjoyed going to gun bashes and hunting with his son, grandson and special friend, Keith Wittington. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Baltimore Orioles and mowing the grass. He loved spending time with his grandson and his dog, Bane.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Bea (Arnold) Abe; his number one son, Freddie Lee Abe, Sr. and wife Ann of Rawlings; his special grandson, Freddie Lee Abe, Jr. and girlfriend Kelly Heare of Winchester, VA; his sisters, Patricia Abe and son Gregg Abe of Oldtown, Sara (Abe) Paxton and husband Alan of Cumberland; numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Doris House, and special friends, Richard and Lil Twigg, and Gene and Gayle Kenny.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 15205 McMullen Highway, Cresaptown on Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at which time the Cresaptown Eagles will hold a service.
A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Patrick Buhrman and Rev. Merle Correll officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Pall bearers are Charlie Haines, Gregg Abe, Ray House, Adam Abe, Alan Morgan, Darrel Huff. Honorary pall bearers are George House and Richard Twigg.
