---------------------------------------------
Grandmother Robbins was a gentle, sweet person. She was slim and graceful with an aristocratic look. I wonder how she stayed that way after bearing and raising nine children. I remember her in a frilly white blouse and ankle length dark skirt, her auburn hair piled high. I never heard her raise her voice, she was always kind to everyone and you knew her word was true and you could count on her promises. Whenever she and Grandpa happened to drop in and found Mom (Sylvia Robbins Patterson) ill, Isabel would say, "Well, Dad, I'm going to spend a few days with Sylvia, she needs me." My Dad admired and respected her very much, as did many others. Once when Mom was very sick and the Doctor called (she had lost a baby) and we were all very worried and I was frightened. Grandmother slept with me -if she slept at all - she put her arm around me and told me not to worry and that she would stay awake until I was asleep. I knew that she would and I relaxed and went right off to sleep. I'm sure she was praying, too. She went to Heaven when I was young.
