Theron Eugene Ragland, 84, of Independence, Missouri, died on July 14, 2015 at his home. He was born on July 13, 1931 in Osawatomie, Kansas, to Thomas Pugh and Mildred Myrtle Ragland. He was raised by his grandmother, Rosetta Tennessee Harin-Ragland along with his first cousin, Lillian Babe Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother; son, Nathanial Maurice Radlans, Sr.; grandson, Jamil DeAnthony Ragland, Sr.; granddaughter, Jonice D'Angela Wells; and sisters, Billie A. Hunter and Patricia Ann Burson Gentry Smith. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1949. He was a member of the Special Forces. After leaving the Air Force, he married Peggy Wright Vann and the couple had five children. After the dissolution of this marriage, he married Ester Louise Osborne and the couple had one child. This marriage was also dissolved and in 1988 he married Louise Copridge. He attended Valley Point Grace School District 41 in Dunlap, Kansas, a non-segregated one room school house in which students from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade were taught. He then attended high school in Council Grove, Kansas, which was also a non-segregated school. At the age of nearly 40, Theron earned his G.E.D. He was employed at Bruning Instrument, Barton Nelson, Inc., and Amerigraph Multigraphics, Inc. (A&M), retiring after thirty-six years of service. He also owned and operated Better Impression, a print shop in Kansas City, Missouri for seven years. He is survived by his wife, five children, two step-children, twenty-five grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Funeral: 11:00 a.m. July 25, 2015 at Second Baptist Church of Independence. Arrangements: Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors.
