VIRGINIA BEACH- W. Raleigh Alexander Jr., 65, of Susan Constant Drive, died in a
hospital Saturday after being stricken suddenly.
A Norfolk native and lifelong area resident, he was the husband of Mrs. Mildred
Jackson Alexander, WTAR radio personality. He was a son of the late Walter
Raleigh Alexander and Mrs. Annie Laurie Horton.
He was executive director of the Tidewater Heart Association. He retired from
Texaco, Inc., in 1970 after 30 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William Rowe
Hemingway of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mrs. J.A. Carroll and Mrs. Margaret
Abrams of Norfolk; and two grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Fueral
Apartments, Norfolk, by the Rev. Richard D. Woodward. Burial will be in Forest
Lawn Cemetery.
The body was taken to H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road, where it will
remain until noon Monday.
