Lived his life in Niantic, Connecticut, son of Earl F. and Marian (Hilliar) Rathbun. Graduate of New London High School in 1959, he was the first career fire fighter for the Town of Waterford, Conn. Retiring in 1994. He was a life member of the Jordan Fire Department (Waterford, Conn), a life member of the New London County Fire Chiefs Assocation. He was a member of the Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Fire Apparatus in America, SPAAMFAA. He was survived by wife Rosemary (Mazzella) Rathbun and his brothers Terry Rathbun of Niantic, and Richard Rathbun as well as his sister Nancy Dibble, also several nieces and nephews.
