Joseph died at age 11 at home on Poliquin Ave after an illness of three days. He was the son of Ernest and Eugenie Bourassa Boulais. The family lived in Auburn only nine months.

Besides his parents he is survived by a brother, William; three sisters, Theresa, Irene, and Alice Boulais; a half brother, Laurence Desjardins all of Auburn; several uncles and aunts.
